I found this link to The Last Meals Project via Neatorama. The guy running the site/project says… well I’ll quote him:
The core of the issue lies not on the emotionally loaded (for or against) arguments, but to question, how is society really served by the death penalty?
Call me clueless but whether society is served by the death penalty or not can’t help but lead directly to a for/against discussion. I’m willing to bet that people can be neatly divided into for/against groups based on whether or not they feel the death penalty serves society.
The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the site was that it was interesting. Immediately following that thought I wondered whether or not anybody bothered to think about the last meals of the victims of these convicted killers. Unlike their killers, the victims were unaware they were having their last meal.
It’s also quite interesting that each one gets some standard info which includes name, last meal, sentence, execution date and time, and State where the execution took place, but strangely, there’s no mention of any crimes.
Probably an over-site.
